Daily trip 27 August 2012 | Great White Shark Cage Diving Gansbaai
What a day! Not only did our weather change dramatically from gloomy to sunny and warm, but the sharks were flying! One of our first sharks to arrive on the scene was very energetic and just kept chasing after our decoy! This shark was creating some of the best photo opportunities and if you had your camera in hand you definitely captured something to take home with you. After an amazing shark dive we started to make our way back towards the harbour and here we spotted a Southern right whale, great way to end off. A really thrilling trip...
Daily trip 26 August 2012 | White Shark Diving Gansbaai
Even though we did have a chilly wind and some swell today, the day was a massive success! We had two enormous sharks and some flying action! We have recently started to work around the inshore area again and unfortunately the visibility is limited at times, but as long as the sharks remain I’m happy. I just love to see happy faces...
Daily trip 20th August 2012 | Great White Shark Diving South Africa
After this recent cold front passed the waters around Dyer Island are full of sharks and well mixed. On this trip we had an abundance of sightings! The first shark to arrive was a 3m male followed by another similar sized individual. Diving was splendid with numerous sharks passing very closely to the cage and most people got back into the cage for a second time.
Daily trip 24 August 2012 | Cage Diving South Africa
Today was a bit of a waiting game on board Slash Fin! We have grown accustomed to the sharks arriving within minutes on the scene upon our arrival; however that was not to be. After a little of my singing and dancing routine a shark appeared on the scene and we were able to dive the majority of the people on board. After a period of silence, the skipper mad the call to move to a new location. There we found some bigger sharks which were fantastic and we also saw a sat tagged shark. We later found out from our whale watching boat that they had spotted a pod of 6 killer whales chasing after a super pod of common dolphins. This could possibly be the explanation behind the scarcity of sharks...
Daily trip 23 August 2012 | Shark Diving South Africa
Two successful trips today with both shark sightings as well as a Southern Right Whale sighting on our first trip. We had an interesting group of rugby boys from the UK accompanied by their coaches and teachers; I know they enjoyed themselves thoroughly. On our second trip we had about the same number of sharks with equally good activity. We also had schools of Mullet surrounding the boat, most likely looking for a free meal. Great day...
Daily trip 22 August 2012 | Great White Shark Cage Diving South Africa
A fantastic day of leaping sharks, we were also able to capture a seals perspective on a approaching Great white shark. One of our volunteers was willing to place his GoPro cameras on the line by attaching it to the bottom of our seal decoy. It was nerve renching to watch, the tense moments were more surrounding the fact that the footage might be lost at any moment, the camera could be replaced :)! Some great sharks in the size range of 4.5 meters who came very close to the cage at times! Great to see the nervous faces of the people in the cage and then the relief that always follows the thrill! What a day...
